A series of deaf-themed events are set to take place for all the family to enjoy.
North Tyneside Disability Forum (NTDF) is hosting a Deaf Sports Day at John Spence Community High School in North Shields.
The day – on Saturday, September 6, from 10am to 3pm – is set 1,000 days prior to the next Deaflympics, due to be held in Turkey in 2017.
During the day there will be a chance to try sports including football (led by Newcastle United Foundation), badminton (led by SMILE Through Sport), basketball (led by Holly Thompson) and athletics (led by Sport North Tyneside).
For youngsters and families there will be a treasure hunt led by NTDF Youth Project.
Barry Campbell and Brian Babb, of Belfast Deaf United, who have won the British Deaf Cup three out of the last four years, will also be appearing with their cup.
