A team of four has been appointed to answer the calls on a newly launched helpline that is assisting parents.
The Northumberland/Tyne and Wear Support 4 Separated Parents (S4SP) helpline will offer advice to thosewho are separating or have separated without the intervention of the court to resolve disputes.
Answering the phone to calls will be Hazel Hedley, Steve Eales, Gillian Docherty and Sarah Collins, who all work in the family services industry and have experience on the topics of mediation and other non court-related routes.
The S4SP helpline, which can be reached on 0333 200 0722, is open Monday to Friday, but if anyone needs to talk outside of usual opening hours due to personal time restraints or sensitivities, then the helpline will be able to call people back at a designated time.
Hazel said: “Gone are the days where court is the only option.
“Court is costly, can cause issues to be unresolved, and is not really putting the child/children’s best interest at heart.
“Our experienced team on the helpline will outline other options that are suitable to your personal situation, along with suitable providers in your area.”
