Fundraising party raises charity cash

A SPECIAL birthday party has raised hundreds of pounds for a charity.

Anne Baxter requested a no gifts policy for her recent 65th birthday party, held at The Wooden Doll in North Shields, asking for charity donations instead.

The idea proved so popular that on the evening £320 was raised, which has been swelled further to give a grand total of £351.50.

The money has been donated to ME Research UK – a leading charity looking into causes of ME – or CFS – Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

Anne said: “I am absolutely delighted that so many friends and family came along on the evening and thoroughly enjoyed themselves eating, drinking, dancing and socialising, whilst at the same time benefiting such a worthy cause.”

Anne also donated all her recent Premium Bond winnings amounting to £600 to ME Research UK.
