A woman who battled breast cancer has thanked hospital staff for their support over the last decade.
Gillian Keddy held an auction to raise funds for the oncology day unit at North Tyneside General Hospital to say thank you for the care she received.
And the 47-year-old, from Killingworth, was delighted to hand over a cheque for £3,500.
Gillian said: “The unit is very close to my heart and the staff have become my comfort blanket over the years, providing fantastic support during a difficult time.
“The auction night was a great success and I would like to thank everyone who took part. We’re already planning next year’s party.”
Gillian was joined by her cousin Deborah Prior as she handed over the cheque to unit manager Allison Nielsen.
Allison said: “Staff who attended the auction were touched by the reception they received on the night.
“The generous donation will go towards a new garden where patients can enjoy a calm and peaceful environment whilst they are with us for treatment.”
Lots in the auction included Newcastle United tickets, a Barcelona FC signed photograph and shirt, and mobile phones donated by Orange.
