Christmas came early for one North Shields teenager after her artistic flair won a national competition.
Hayley Anderson beat thousands of artists to be crowned winner of ITV Daybreak’s ‘Sketch Santa’ competition.
The 16-year-old will see her design – capturing two children watching Santa fly past their window – in a limited edition charity card pack, which also features designs by pop group Little Mix.
The cards are being produced by Hallmark and sold to raise funds for ITV’s ‘Text Santa’ appeal.
Hayley said: “I’m always looking for art competitions to enter.
“The inspiration for the card was from when I was little and I always wanted to stay up and see Santa out of the window.
“It feels amazing knowing the nation is sending my card to each other. It is a Christmas present for me.”
Tamsyn Johnston Hughes, Sketch Santa judge and campaign manager for Hallmark, said: “You can tell that Hayley has put a lot of effort into creating her beautifully crafted design.
“She has managed to capture the essence of Christmas while crafting a card that makes a great visual impact. We’re sure it will be kept in the hearts of homes across the country, used to decorate mantelpieces, windowsills and walls.
“We’ve already invited Hayley to the Hallmark head office, over in Bradford, to meet our creative team. You never know, she might one day be sitting alongside them if this is something she wishes to pursue.”
