Home plans look set to be approved

PROPOSALS for a new residential development in a popular part of North Tyneside have been recommend for planning approval.

Banks Property, part of the Banks Group, has put forward plans for 61 two, three and four-bedroom family homes on a 4.5-acre site off Great Lime Road in Palmersville, adjacent to the existing Forest Gate development.

The site would offer a number of different options for both first time buyers and established homeowners, as well as a 25 per cent allocation of affordable housing.

The project, which is scheduled to go before North Tyneside Council’s planning committee on Tuesday, is said to have been developed to help meet a need for more family housing across North Tyneside.

Developers say it would help attract new families to the area, as well as providing options for young people who want to stay close to where they grew up.

As part of the project, Durham-based Banks, who were the land developers for the original Forest Gate scheme, would make substantial investments in a number of community improvements, including around the provision of education and sporting facilities in North Tyneside and in local play spaces and wildlife habitats.

Michael Shuttleworth, managing director of Banks Property, said: “We’re very pleased to have had the merits of our Palmersville proposals recognised by North Tyneside Council’s planning officers, and hope the members of its planning committee will chose to follow their recommendation.

“The substantial investment we’re looking to make in this project would help to meet an increasingly pressing need for more family homes in North Tyneside, and it would open up new options for people wanting to move into or stay in the area.

“New funds would be created for use in the area, and it would also enable us to fund a number of improvements to the area.”
