Crowds are expected in Tynemouth this weekend as classic cars descend on the village.
The fourth annual Tynemouth Classic Volkswagen Rally will take place on Saturday, July 26, from 9.30am to 4pm, at the Spanish Battery and Priors Haven.
Organisers are expecting more than 150 Beetles, campervans and other VW cars while there will also be a resident DJ, food stalls, VW memorabilia, vintage clothes and a dog show.
The event will end with a full rally cruise along the coast to St Mary’s Lighthouse.
The prized campervans and Beetles will be on display at both car parks throughout the day.
One of the organisers, Jill Snailham, of Ruby & Frank boutique, said: “These vehicles are a way of life and inspire so much passion from their owners.
“With so much local support, and the help of the dedicated and talented volunteers, we are proud that this event has justifiably take its place in the VW event calendar; it helps to promote Tynemouth as a great destination and is really in keeping with the village’s laid back, surfing vibe.”
There is also a raffle to win a weekend’s VW campervan hire from Camperscape.
