Identifying issues for older offenders

New research from Age UK North Tyneside has identified key issues in the support available to older offenders.

The research, which was commissioned by Northumbria Probation Trust, was launched at a conference in Newcastle, where 100 people from voluntary organisations, housing organisations, the NHS and others attended to discuss the needs of older offenders, the risks they can pose, and how best to support them.

Alma Caldwell, chief executive of Age UK North Tyneside, said: “We work to improve the quality of life of all older people, whatever their background.

“We are pleased that the research we did for Northumbria Probation Trust has highlighted the support needs of this group and that agencies are committed to taking action to make sure they get the services they need.”
