Intruders target Whitley Bay bank

 

Intruders left empty handed after they tried to break in to the Santander bank in Whitley Bay.

At 7:04pm on Monday, January 27, police received a report that the alarms had been triggered at the branch in Whitley Road.

Officers attended and found that intruders had tried to break into a rear entrance to the bank but did not manage to get inside the building and left empty handed.

Enquiries are ongoing into the attempted break-in and officers are in the area speaking to local businesses and residents.

Police are appealing for anyone who was in the Whitley Road area on Monday night, particularly anyone who was in the rear lane of Whitley Road, and who might have seen any suspicious people hanging around or any suspicious vehicles to get in touch with any information on 101 ext 69191.
