A fundraiser from Whitley Bay joined TV presenter Ben Shepherd and rugby player Tom May in a 10,000-calorie challenge for charity.

Ivan Hollingsworth joined the stars on another incredible challenge to burn 10,000 calories each in one day at Speedflex Newcastle, to raise money for the Children’s Heart Unit Fund at the Freeman.

Ivan, who last week smashed his fundraising target of £333,000 for Chuf, said: “Attempting to train continuously until you have burned 10,000 calories is unheard of and took over 14 hours of unbelievably high intensity exercise.

“I hope our blood, sweat and tears will warrant people donating a little bit of money to CHUF.”

TV presenter and lifelong friend of Ivan, Ben Shephard, added: “I’ve fallen in love with what they have done for CHUF, and for the children on the ward, so whenever Ivan comes up with another idea I’m a sucker to get stuck in.”

All three wore heart monitors throughout to record the number of calories burned.
