Jodie calling on others to quit
Jodie Black, from Cullercoats, who is fronting a new 'No Smoking Campaign'.
A NORTH Tynesider has been chosen as one of the faces of a new campaign encouraging smokers to quit the habit before it kills them.
Jodie Black, of Cullercoats, started smoking when she was 14 but gave up after falling pregnant for the first time.
And now the 30-year-old has been chosen by NHS North of Tyne as one of 13 faces of its People Like Us campaign.
The campaign has enlisted former smokers to encourage others to seek help to stub out the habit.
They will feature on outdoor advertising including bus stop posters, billboards, buses and taxis this month and next.
Jodie said: “I am expecting my first baby and am aware of the risks associated with smoking during pregnancy. That’s why I contacted my local NHS stop-smoking service to seek help.
“I feel so much healthier. I hope that other people see my story and it encourages others to give up.”
For advice on stopping smoking, call 0300 123 9290.
