Key appointment for Scottish work

A company working in partnership with a council is hoping its latest appointment will bring success north of the border.

Capita delivers a range of technical services across the north east and Scotland from its offices on Cobalt Business Park, and also works in partnership with North Tyneside Council on some services.

The company has now recruited Elaine Provan as senior transport engineer to work from their Glasgow office on engineering projects in Scotland secured by the North Tyneside team.

Operations director Barry Pilkington said: “This is an important milestone for us.

“From the outset, our ambition was for our North Tyneside office to be the headquarters for growth across the north east and Scotland.

“The need for this new post in Scotland, in addition to the jobs we’ve already created in North Tyneside, is a sign of our success.”

Elaine, who was previously a transport engineer for Inverclyde Council, said: “It’s exciting to be part of Capita’s growth north of the border.

“I saw joining Capita as a new challenge and a good opportunity for career progression.”

In November 2012, Capita entered into a 15-year partnership with North Tyneside Council to deliver a range of technical services: Engineering; property; planning; building control and public protection.

Since then it has gained more than 40 clients and the business has grown by 65 jobs.
