War heroes are set to be honoured later this year during a special event to mark Armed Forces Day.
The event at the White Swan Centre in Killingworth on Monday, June 23, will include the presentation of veterans’ lapel badges to ex-service personnel and the raising of an Armed Forces Day flag.
Anyone who has served in the armed forces, including the volunteer and regular reserves – and is currently residing in North Tyneside – is entitled to apply for the badge.
Those eligible are being urged to contact North Tyneside Council who will send applications to the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency on their behalf and, if successful, will be invited to the presentation ceremony.
Veterans who have previously received a lapel badge are asked not to apply again.
The event is part of a programme of activities leading up to Armed Forces Day on Saturday, June 28.
Veterans wishing to apply should call (0191) 643 7409, write to Events Team, North Tyneside Council, Quadrant East, Cobalt Business Park, North Tyneside, NE27 0BY, or email email@example.com
The deadline for applications is Friday, May 23.
