Learn more about plans to improve town

An innovative networking event is being held for businesses and individuals interested in making Whitley Bay a better place.

The Whitley Bay Big Local Partnership is hosting its first ‘Speed Fishing’ event at its newly opened shop in Park View.

Any businesses, community groups, schools, organisations or residents can attend to share more about their own projects or find out what others are planning to benefit Whitley Bay.

Carol Alevroyianni, partnership board member, said: “This is an opportunity for us all to meet each other and see where we share goals and can join up to help each other.

“We will be sharing more about what Whitley Bay Big Local is and the plans for the town over the coming year and looking to make new partnerships.

“There are lots of people already doing great things in Whitley Bay – this event will give everyone a chance to see what is out there and perhaps be inspired to become more involved themselves.”

The shop is in the former Blueberry Square store on Park View. The event will take place from 6pm to 8pm on Tuesday, July 15. There is no need to book.

Carol added: “Not only will the event be an opportunity for people to share their own work and find like-minded people who share their interests and goals, we hope it will also highlight to people living and working in the town some of the small changes and simple things that they themselves can do that will make a difference to improving Whitley Bay for everybody.”

The Whitley Bay Big Local Partnership is a ten-year Big Lottery funded community led initiative for all who live and work in the Big Local area to get together and make small changes that could have a big impact on the town.

The Speed Fishing event kicks off the summer programme of activities by the Whitely Bay Big Local Partnership which will include workshops and activities for both families and young people.
