A fun runner challenged himself to go the extra mile – or two – to help a local charity.
Magnus McGillivray ran 100 miles in one day to raise money for the Percy Hedley Foundation’s Splash Appeal.
The chartered surveyor, from Newcastle and a member of Heaton Harriers, took part in the 100MeilenBerlin ultra marathon along what used to be the Berlin Wall.
The 35-year-old completed the event – held over August 16 and 17 – in a time of 21 hours 46mins.
Magnus said: “The furthest I had run was 69 miles, from Carlisle to Newcastle, the Hadrian’s Wall Run.
“I’ve completed that twice now and was looking for something a bit more challenging and came across the 100 miles Berlin run.
“I’ve raised over £1,770 for the Splash Appeal so far.”

The Splash Appeal was launched with a target of raising £1m to support the development of a hydrotherapy pool and residential unit for the children and young people of the Percy Hedley Foundation in Forest Hall.
