An incident at Wallsend Metro station where a man ended up with critical head injuries.

A MAN who was assaulted at Wallsend Metro station has today died from his injuries.

Twenty-two-year-old Aivaras Savickas died at Newcastle RVI today after he was assaulted on a platform at Wallsend station at around 8pm on Sunday, Feburary 12.

Two men, Veleus Norkus, 22, of Oakley Street, Northampton, and Thomas Mikalauskas, 22, of Vine Street, Wallsend, appeared this week at North Tyneside Magistrates court charged with the attempted murder.

The pair were remanded in custody and will now be heard at Newcastle Crown Court next month.
