Memorial fund is launched for artist

Have your say

A scheme to raise money for the erection of a memorial on the unmarked grave of a well-known North Shields artist has been re-launched after a gap of 76 years.

The original scheme, set up by friends of artist Victor Noble Rainbird, was reported as almost reaching its goal back in March 1938, but there is no record of what happened to the funds as they were never used for their intended purpose.

The new scheme, launched by the Friends of Victor Noble Rainbird, has recently been set up by two North Shields residents, Dave Young and David Hirst.
