Men with pellet gun arrested on Metro

TWO men have been arrested on a metro in Wallsend when in possession of a pellet gun.

The incident happened this morning, on Tuesday March 5, and caused delays to trains between Howdon and South Shields.

Just before 11am a member of staff at a Newcastle business called police to report that a customer had mentioned to him that he had seen two men with what could have been a gun.

The customer told the member of staff that he had seen the two men at the business, but that they had since left.

Officers made enquiries and the two men were identified on CCTV and subsequently stopped and arrested in the metro near Howdon at 11.42am

They were found to be in possession of a pellet gun.

Passengers on the Metro are advised that there may be minor delays on the Metro for the next hour.
