Children spending Christmas in hospital were treated to a swashbuckling adventure as pantomime stars brought a piece of Neverland to them.

Characters from the Playhouse Whitley Bay’s production of Peter Pan delighted young patients on the children’s ward at North Tyneside General Hospital as part of the festive celebrations by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Peter Pan, Wendy and Smee took time out of their busy schedule entertaining families to help spread the festive cheer.

Carole Clayton, ward manager on the children’s ward, said: “The patients really enjoyed meeting the characters from Peter Pan and we’re really grateful that they took the time to come to the hospital.

“Being in hospital at this time of year can be difficult for anyone, particularly children, and meeting the characters from Peter Pan was a fantastic treat just a couple of days before Christmas.”

Peter Pan – starring CBeebies favourite Sarah-Jane Honeywell, Neighbours legend Mark Little and north east comic Steve Walls – is showing until January 5.
