New jobs on the way at hospitals

Consultant Radiologist Mark Twemlow launches Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust's recruitment campaign.

A RECRUITMENT drive has been launched for radiologists to work at North Tyneside General Hospital and the new emergency care hospital to be built near Cramlington.

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is taking on six new consultant radiologists as it expands its radiology team and network of hospitals.

The new recruits will work at the North Shields hospital, the forthcoming Cramlington hospital and also at the trust’s general hospitals at Hexham and Ashington.

David Evans, medical director at the trust, said: “This is a very exciting time to be joining our organisation.

“Our consultant radiologists and their teams play a central role in the fast diagnosis and treatment of our patients every single day, and we are investing in this service even further.”

Consultant radiologist Mark Twemlow, 30, the department’s most recent recruit, said: “I am very excited by the new specialist emergency care hospital.

“The new hospital will see all major acute admissions and, as such, radiology will play a vital role in streamlining care pathways for patients.”
