New sergeant for borough town

WHITLEY Bay has a new officer on the beat.

Sergeant Jonathan May has joined the Whitley Bay neighbourhood policing team after almost eight years at Wallsend.

Prior to that he worked as a detective in Newcastle and the force’s Professional Standards Department.

He’s been in the force for 16 years and he is looking forward to a new challenge, especially as he lives in the local community.

Sgt May said: “This is my home where I have lived for the last eight years. I have always found North Tyneside a great place to live and work and want to continue to keep it a safe place for all residents.

“It’s great to be back at Whitley Bay and I hope to make a difference in the local community.

“It’s the feedback from the community which helps us meet the needs of the local residents.

“I’d encourage people to get in touch and tell us their concerns and how we can improve our service.”
