A former cafe owner is hoping to reunite with a long-lost friend after more than 40 years.
Widower Joseph Butcher, 82, last saw friend and colleague Edith in the 1970s.
The former waitress, who was about 35 at the time, used to bring her daughter into the eatery.
The ‘lonely’ father-of-two and grandfather-of-two is now hoping for a reunion with the Edith, whose surname he can not remember, as they “got on very well.”
“I’m an old man ,” he said. “I’m lonely, and I’m just wondering if she is feeling the same.
“We knew each while we worked together and got on well. That was about 45 years ago.”
Mr Butcher, who lives in Billy Mill Lane, North Shields, owned Pickwick Cafe, Prudhoe South Shields, in the 1970s.
“I bumped into her a few years ago in Cramlington,” said Mr Butcher.
Anyone who knows Edith should contact Mr Butcher on (0191) 257 2462.
