Personal items stolen from a woman’s bag

A woman has appealed for help in tracing her personal belongings taken when her handbag was stolen.

The woman had been crossing Roseberry Avenue in North Shields at around 9.30pm on Saturday, August 2, when a man ran past and stole her bag.

The man is described as being white, in his early 20s, 5ft 6ins to 5ft 8ins tall, of stocky build with short fair hair and was wearing a blue baseball cap, dark jacket zipped up to his chin and jeans with trainers.

The victim said: “This has been a really unpleasant ordeal and it has really frightened my family and me.

“Although a total inconvenience, I can cancel credit cards and replace belongings, but I can’t replace the personal items that have been stolen and I want to appeal to anyone who may have found any discarded items in the area to contact police.”

Sergeant Guy Morgan said: “This has been a frightening incident for the victim and we are urging anyone with any information to come forward.”

Anyone with information should contact North Shields neighbourhood policing team on 101, quoting reference 42114F/14, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
