Public get to air their opinions about local policing

A SENIOR police officer took to the beat last week to talk to the local community about policing in North Tyneside.

Chief Superintendent Steve Neill went on patrol with CSO Tim Cousins around the Killingworth area to hear from residents about any issues or concerns they may have in their area.

Crime is down in North Tyneside by eight per cent from the same period last year and Ch Supt Neill wants to assure the public that the force is listening and taking action.

He said: “This was an excellent opportunity to get out into the community and speak to the people of Killingworth.

“Being out face to face with people helps establish good relations and allows us to not only listen to the public’s concerns but inform them of some of the work our officers and teams are doing in the area.

“The feedback we receive is vital to us – together with our partners, we respond to residents’ concerns and tackle issues that may be affecting them.

“Crime and disorder continues to fall in North Tyneside, making it one of the safest places in the region to live, work and socialise.

“We want to continue achieving good results and being out in the community gives me the opportunity to reassure residents personally that this is our aim here in North Tyneside.”

Ch Supt Neill has also been on patrol in Wallsend with Pc Tom Spencer and aims to get out on the beat in all sectors of North Tyneside.
