Students have been playing their part in helping their neighbouring streets look their best.
Year 11 and 12 pupils at Whitley Bay High School armed themselves with litter pickers and bin bags to clear the streets, targeting Whitley Lodge and around Sainsbury’s.
The student ambassadors said they were determined to create a good impression.
Student Erin Campbell said: “We made it our mission to ensure that the streets around the school were as litter-free as possible.”
Her friend, Emily Davey, added: “We know that litter can cause annoyance to our neighbours so we were determined to make a difference.”
