Pupils from four North Tyneside schools are putting their heads together to come up with creative fundraising ideas to help win their way into the boardroom.
Teams from Whitehouse and King Edward primary schools in North Shields, Monkseaton Middle School and Langley First School in Monkseaton are among 14 teams across the north east taking part in Newcastle Building Society’s annual Boardroom Charity Challenge.
The competition challenges the nine and ten-year-old participants to develop business ideas that focus on benefiting their local community while also making a profit.
The prize for the overall winner this year has been doubled to a £1,000 donation towards putting their ideas into practice, with all the other participants receiving runners-up awards.
Natalie Falkous, head of corporate social responsibility at Newcastle Building Society, who will be part of the judging panel, said: “The Boardroom Charity Challenge has always attracted lots of interest and enthusiasm from right across our heartland area.
“The company are thrilled to have so many schools on board.”
