Four students are celebrating after being offered places to study at Oxford or Cambridge universities next year.

The Year 13 quartet at Kings Priory School, in Tynemouth, will now be hoping to obtain the necessary grades in their A-levels to secure their places.

Jade Hope has been offered a place to study psychological and behavioural sciences at Queen’s College, Cambridge; Rowan Pritchett to read mathematics at Corpus Christi College, Cambridge; Alex Shaw to read joint honours English and German at Jesus College, Oxford; and Michael Bentham to read music at Hertford College, Oxford.

Philip Sanderson, head of chapter and who supported the students through the application process, said: “We offer our heartfelt congratulations to Alex, Michael, Rowan and Jade.

“They have impressed Oxbridge tutors with their razor sharp intellect, hard work and independent spirit.”

“Both pupils and staff should be congratulated on the hard work they put into achieving these offers.”
