Staff and regulars at a Cullercoats pub are continuing to help protect lives at sea.

For the seventh year running, the Quarry pub – under the management of Colin and Kathryn Chapman – have donated the money raised on New Year’s Day with their auction, raffle, tombola and Tug of War to Cullercoats RNLI.

The pair are supported by fundraisers Trish and Doug McGlasson, Nicola Dawson and Gloria Taylor, and this year they presented a cheque for £1,758.20 – taking the total raised since 2007 to more than £10,000.

Colin said: “Kathryn and I have been very happy continuing to help and support the regulars in their fundraising for Cullercoats RNLI.”

Trish said: “The lifeboat station plays a big part in the Cullercoats community and we are proud to help the crew.”

Frank Taylor, of Cullercoats RNLI, added: “Having this support is great as it keeps helping us save lives at sea.”
