A group of slimmers are doing their bit for the local community and their own health.
Members of the Battle Hill Slimming World groups are taking part in the national ‘Slim for Good’ campaign.
During the six-week drive, which started on February 24, they will be raising money for St Oswald’s Hospice.
Slimming members voted in favour of supporting the charity’s children and young adult service by raising pounds for every pound they lose during the initiative.
Consultant Trish Davison said: “Thanks to Slim for Good, members will also be able to benefit their wider local community by raising funds for the children and young adults service.
“Their weight-loss will literally become St Oswald’s gain.”
Fellow consultant Brian Bell added: “If you’ve struggled with your weight for a long time, then making that decision to take control and slim down can be a big one but hopefully knowing that every pound you lose will go towards helping St Oswald’s will be a great incentive to make that step.”
Sponsorship forms are available from the Battle Hill Slimming World groups, which are held at The Church of the Good Shepherd every Monday morning at 9.30am or 11.30am or Monday evenings at 5.30pm or 7.30pm in Battle Hill Primary School.
