A new neighbourhood inspector has been welcomed to North Tyneside.
Inspector Ray Smith has joined the Killingworth neighbourhood policing team to help keep the town safe.
He has 24 years’ service after starting his career at the Met.
He also spent two years in Killingworth as a Pc in 1996.
Insp Smith has been a 24/7 response inspector for the North Tyneside area for the last two years and he brings plenty of local knowledge to his new role.
He will also oversee the team’s move to the town’s White Swan Centre.
He said: “I am really looking forward to the new role and challenge.
“I want to make sure residents continue to live in a safe and pleasant environment and I am dedicated to tackling the issues that concern the local community.
“I have a great team of officers who I have worked closely with in the past and I am confident that we are able to provide the best policing service to those in the area.”
He is replacing Insp John Smith, who recently moved to head up a neighbourhood team in South Tyneside.
