Residents evacuatedafter Wallsend explosion

Residents were evacuated last night following an explosion at a Wallsend business.

Emergency services were called to Community Link, on Alexandra Street, in Wallsend, at 10.53pm, on Thursday, June 19, following reports of an explosion and fire.

Emergency services attended the scene and the fire was extinguished.

Some nearby residents were evacuated. No one was injured in the incident.

The cause of the fire is being treated as suspicious and an investigation is being carried out.
