Robbery at Wallsend bookmakers
Police outside the Chisholm Bookmakers shortly after a robbery on Tuesday evening.
POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a robbery at a North Tyneside bookmakers.
A man entered Chisholm Bookmakers on the Coast Road, Wallsend, at 6.53pm on Tuesday, February 19, armed with a baseball bat.
He threatened staff and stole an amount of cash from the till before making off. No one was injured in the incident.
The suspect is described as 5ft 3ins tall, wearing a dark jacket, jeans and a balaclava.
Detective Sergeant Dave Hirst said: “Thankfully no one was injured but staff were obviously left shaken following the incident.
“We are doing everything possible to trace the man involved and the investigation continues.
“I would urge any witnesses or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area either before or after the robbery took place or who has information about the man responsible to contact police as soon as possible.” Anyone with information should contact police on 101 ext 69191 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
