A Whitley Bay school will be closed tomorrow (Tuesday) due to heating issues.
Valley Gardens Middle School was without heating today (Monday) due to an unforeseen failure with all lessons continuing and pupils remaining in school.
As a consequence of an unforeseen heating failure, Valley Gardens Middle School in Whitley Bay is without heating today, Monday 2 December. All pupils are in school and lessons are continuing for the remainder of today.
Investigations are underway to ascertain the location of the fault and repairs will be undertaken as soon as possible.
However, due to the complexity of the fault, the school will be closed on Tuesday for pupils in Years 6, 7 and 8. Year 5 pupils will be accommodated in the north block, which has independent heating.
A spokesperson for North Tyneside Council said: “It is hoped that the heating will be fully restored for the beginning of the school day on Wednesday, December 4. However, parents are asked to consider contingencies for childcare in the event that the repairs cannot be completed for that time.”
Further updates will be available via www.northtyneside.gov.uk and to parents via the school’s text service and website at www.valleygardensmiddle.org.uk
