A Scout group is looking for new leaders after moving premises due to its popularity.

The 19th Whitley Bay (Earsdon) Scout Group had been based in Earsdon since it was established in 1947.

But due to its success – with just under 100 children and more on the waiting list – the group has moved its beaver and cubs section to Immaculate Heart RC Church in West Monkseaton.

Dave Hunter, group chairman, said: “We were very reluctant to leave Earsdon but as the group was growing we were finding ourselves limited on what we could do.

“Our new premises gives us the opportunity of two separate rooms, so we can cut down our group sizes, it gives us a fantastic amount of space outside, so more activities can be carried out in the fresh air.”

Now they are looking for additional leaders to join. For more visit www.19wbscouts.org.uk or email 19thwhitley.chair@gmail.com

The group’s AGM will take place at the Immaculate Heart RC Church on Friday, May 16, from 7pm.

It will be followed by a fundraising event featuring stalls, BBQ, and activities for both children and adults, with visitors getting a chance to see what the group is all about and their new premises.
