Bosses at a borough shopping centre say they have everything for all the family to keep them entertained.
Park View Shopping Centre, in Whitley Bay, features a range of shops from high street supermarkets to independent cafes, and card shops to clothing.
Officials say that despite the rise in online sales in recent years, shopping centres are still popular as they give shoppers a chance to browse.
A spokesperson for the centre said: “When shopping online, most customers know the items they would like to purchase and that’s the items they purchasing.
“Rarely do they ‘browse’ or see something else that might entice them to a purchase.
“Do shopping centres have a future?
“They do. If you look at the evolution of these physical locations, you will note how the more successful ones have evolved to meet the changing urban environment.
“It’s a place for the whole family to enjoy time together.
“Take Park View Shopping Centre: it’s not just convenient to go in and buy clothes, or food or your toiletries.
“It’s a place where the whole family can get together and do their ‘jobs’, while still enjoying family time: you can relax and have a coffee and cake or let your teenage children browse the stores while parents go about doing the business.”
