Singing bike riders cycle 140 miles
TWO singing cyclists are to celebrate the 25 year anniversary of their choir with a 140 mile coast to coast bike ride.
Terry O'Brien and Wren Smith of Newcastle Male Chorus will complete the arduous journey from Whitehaven to Tynemouth to raise funds for future events.
The choir was set up in 1984 and has since gone on to win numerous awards and perform in venues from church halls to the Royal Albert Hall and have raised money for various charities.
Terry said: "Both Wren and I enjoy riding our bikes and are not strangers to challenging rides, but the coast to coast is definitely the toughest we have taken on yet.
"I've been a member of the choir for a little more than two years but some of the men are founder members from 1984.
"Like them I thoroughly enjoy the weekly rehearsal and I find each of our concerts to be a great and rewarding experience.
"I hope that Wren and I can help support some of next year's planned activities."
The Newcastle Male Chorus rehearses every Wednesday at Cragside Primary School in Heaton from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and new members are always welcome.
