Shop workers from North Shields have been raising money for a local youngster in an unusual way.

Kirton Park Terrace One Stop staff members, Jethro Pearson and Aaron Campbell, took part in a sponsored head shave and leg wax to fund a new electric wheelchair for one of their customers.

Twenty-year-old Danielle Abraham has a rare neurological disorder, and her current wheelchair has become unreliable.

Her mum Tracy Taylor said: “Danielle was diagnosed with Friedreich’s ataxia when she was nine, but her wheelchair is unreliable, and they cost thousands of pounds.

“We were delighted when One Stop said they would hold an event to help us raise money for a new wheelchair.”
