Staff are happy working at trust

Hospital staff have again been recognised as some of the most satisfied in England.

Results of a 2013 NHS staff survey show an increase in the number of staff who would recommend Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as a place to work or receive treatment, putting it in the top 20 per cent of all NHS organisations nationally.

The results show 91 per cent of staff feel their role makes a difference to patients while 84 per cent feel satisfied with the quality of patient care they deliver.

And 74 per cent of staff feel able to contribute to improvements through the trust’s ‘We’re Listening’ campaign which encourages ideas for continuous improvement from all areas of the organisation.

Ann Stringer, executive director of HR and organisational development at the trust, said: “On behalf of the board I would like to thank every member of staff for the valued contribution they make every day, often going the extra mile, to look after our patients.

“We pride ourselves on really listening to our people and empowering our teams to continuously improve the services we provide for patients and the results are testament to the hard work and dedication of everyone working at Northumbria Healthcare.

“It is fantastic that so many of our staff feel that quality is the core focus or our organisation and that they are making a real difference to patients day in, day out in the work they are doing.”
