Staff at a borough building society have this week taken on a charity challenge to cycle 200km in a day.
Colleagues at the North Shields branch of Newcastle Building Society joined colleagues from 19 other branches and two head offices on Wednesday to take on the full 3,656km distance of the Tour de France.
The team rode their miles on exercise bikes in the Bedford Street to raise money for the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade.
Natalie Falkous, head of corporate social responsibility at Newcastle Building Society, said: “Having Le Tour’s Grand Depart in northern England was something very special and we wanted to do something that both marked this unique event and added to the fundraising work that our branch teams do for good causes in their various locations.”
Customers cheered the cyclists on throughout the day.
