Staff splash out in aid of a good cause
A BUILDING firm is splashing out in aid of charity.
Barratt North East is crowning a year of fundraising for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) in Tynemouth by donating a further £50 for every home it sells during January.
The cash will boost the £7,500 already raised by the Newcastle-based company through a masquerade ball, an awards night for local sub-contractors, a sponsored bike ride, coffee mornings and a pub quiz night.
Tynemouth RNLI was voted as the company’s Charity of the Year after it was nominated by technical co-ordinator Laura Moon.
Laura’s fiancé Chris Lawrence volunteers as a crew member.
Catherine Kaye, RNLI corporate partnerships manager, said: “It is fantastic that the staff at Barratt Homes has got behind the RNLI in this way.
“Our charity relies on voluntary contributions to continue our lifesaving work so without support like this, our lifeboat men and women simply would not be able to carry out their vital role on the north east coast.”
