Steel band treat for Tynemouth commuters

COMMUTERS waiting for the train at Tynemouth Metro station on Tuesday morning were treated to a performance by North Tyneside Steelband.

Live entertainment taking place across the region to mark the last day of Go Smarter Week to encourage people to leave their cars at home.

Sustainable transport charity Sustrans also organised ten minute bike rides around Newcastle over the lunch hour period and a marquee at Grey's Monument with information on sustainable transport and a bike doctor.

Go Smarter Week coincides with the eighth European Mobility Week, a Europe-wide campaign which encourages use of sustainable transport.
