A planned strike at the borough’s newest school has been called off by union leaders.
But officials at NASUWT – the largest teachers’ union in the UK – have not ruled out further strike by its members at the Kings Priory Academy.
A planned walk out at the Tynemouth school tomorrow (Thursday) has been withdrawn following talks between the union and academy bosses.
Further talks are planned on Monday in an attempt to resolve the dispute around staffing issues at the school, which was opened in September following the merger of The Kings School and nearby Priory Primary School.
A NASUWT spokesperson said: “The NASUWT members who are ‘Standing up for Standards’ will be taking strike action if there is no dispute resolution at the Academy.”
Further strike action has been planned for Wednesday, December 18, and December 19, and from Tuesday, January 7, to Thursday, January 9.
