A group of students have the world at their feet after landing university offers.

The nine sixth formers at Kings Priory School, in Tynemouth, have secured 39 university offers between them to study geology, geography or earth science.

The students are looking to continue the strong tradition of providing undergraduate students to top Russell Group universities in very specialised and unique subject areas such as geology.

Paul Angel, head of sixth form, said: “Being one of the few schools in the north east that offers geology at A-level we are extremely proud that over the past three years we have sent no less than 26 students off to university to study geology and or geography.”

A number of sixth formers at the school are still waiting to hear about further offers and Mr Angel is confident the final number of students who secure university courses in these subjects will reach 35.
