Artwork by borough students has gone on show in a North Shields shopping centre.

The fine art students studying at the Creative Studios, part of TyneMet College in North Shields, will be showcasing The Four Seasons exhibition in the Beacon centre until April 3.

The students’ paintings and digital images demonstrate a range of technical and stylistic approaches, resulting in a very imaginative and exciting body of visual art.

Dr John O’Rourke, course leader at the studios, said: “The artwork showcased at this exhibition session is of a very high standard; the students put all of their creative talent to the test and produced some amazing pieces.

“We are delighted to have been able to utilise the space within the Beacon shopping centre, the venue provided an excellent back drop to the featured displays.

“Having the opportunity to share these works with the general public is a fantastic experience for the students.

“I would particularly like to thank the owners of the shopping centre for allowing us to make use of the space.”

Beacon centre manager Chris Wilson added: “The quality of the students’ artwork is excellent.

“I am sure we will have hundreds of people viewing the work in the shop unit.

“We are looking forward very much to seeing the work produced, and choosing some suitable examples to enhance our shopping centre over the next 12 months.

“It is good to work locally with the college and we are confident of an excellent outcome.”
