Surfer ‘sorry’ for rescue call out

Have your say

A surfer in difficulty sparked a rescue involving Cullercoats RNLI lifeboat and Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade (TVLB).

The teams were called out at 4.15pm on Monday, December 30, after concern for the surfer near Sharpness Point in Tynemouth.

When the lifeboat arrived, the surfer said he required no assistance and would return to shore. The TVLB stayed at the scene and talked to the man who apologised for the inconvenience.
