Volunteers will descend on to Tynemouth Long Sands on Saturday as part of the ‘Big Spring Clean-Up’ lead by Surfers Against Sewage (SAS).

There are nine beach clean events planned for the north east coast at the weekend, including the special SAS flagship event at Long Sands.

Volunteers are urged to roll up their sleeves, put on their gloves and visit the beach to join in to help SAS remove marine litter from the coastline.

The clean-up at Tynemouth takes place from 10am to noon.
