A team that ensures buildings in North Tyneside are up to standard has been given a seal of approval of its own.
North Tyneside’s building control service – delivered on behalf of North Tyneside Council by Capita – has retained its Quality Assurance accreditation.
It follows an external audit that was carried out by certification body BM TRADA, which stated the team’s systems were ‘well managed and controlled’.
The work of the Building Control team includes ensuring building work is compliant with Building Regulations legislation as well as safeguarding the health and safety of people around buildings.
Mick Clarkson, building control manager, said: “This quality assurance is great news. It helps reassure residents that we’re working to high standards when monitoring building works in the borough.
“But it also gives potential customers the confidence that our service is fully supported by policies and procedures that are fit for purpose.
“We’re committed to providing a continually improving service that guarantees utmost impartiality, independence and public accountability.”
