Teaming up to help deliver a newsletter

A NEW community newsletter is being launched in the borough thanks to a partnership between a football club and a business.

The newsletter – entitled NE27 – will feature news, events and announcements from community and non-profit organisations.

It is the result of a partnership between West Allotment Celtic FC and North Shields-based Daren Persson Funeral Services.

The initial launch will see the free publication delivered to homes in West Allotment, before expanding to cover the whole NE27 postcode, including Backworth and Shiremoor.

West Allotment Celtic committee member Jonny Thompson said: “The idea behind the project is to help local residents find out a bit more about the many community groups that are meeting in the local area that they might be interested in.

“There are lots of great organisations in West Allotment and surrounding areas, including the football club, who are crying out for local people to get involved.

“This is just the football club’s way of trying to make it easier for the community to really get behind and support these groups.”

Local groups can advertise or promote their events for free due to the generous support from Daren Persson Funeral Services.

Any local groups who would like to feature in the free newsletter, with the first one coming out this month, should contact Jonny Thompson on 07847 540034 or through the club’s website www.westallotmentcelticfc.com
