Teeing up to help raise charity funds

A Tynemouth business got the rounds in as they marked a charity golf day in style.

A total of 13 businesses from around the region teed off for charity at the golf day hosted by Gordon Brown Law Firm at Close House, helping raise £3,500 for the Sunshine Fund.

Newcastle United’s Steven Taylor was on the winning team from Tynemouth restaurant Lorelei, who also sponsored the drink element of the event.

Taylor said: “The day was great from start to finish.

“I was thrilled my team won but more importantly very proud of all the money that was raised for a charity that works so tirelessly to help the region’s youngsters.”

The day began with refreshments and mini competitions for the golfers to claim the titles of the longest drive, the nearest to pin and beat the pro before the main golf competition.

Clare Savory, fundraising manager for the Sunshine Fund, said: “We are delighted with the amount of money raised by the golfers. I’d like to thank the Gordon Brown Law Firm for hosting the event and to everyone who took part.”
