Teenager injured in collision

A teenage girl needed hospital treatment after being knocked over when a car moved to the side of the road to make way for a police vehicle.

It happened at 9.08pm on Sunday April 6 at Norham Road in North Shields, a car allowed a police vehicle travelling to an emergency to pass and collided with the girl in the road.

The vehicle, a Nissan Juke, was slow moving at the time and the 17-year-old girl was taken to North Tyneside General Hospital as a precaution for treatment to bruising to her legs, which is not believed to be serious.

The police vehicle was attending an emergency call at the time of the incident.

Officers are providing support to the teenager and her family and full investigation is taking place into the collision.
